Daymark privacy policy

Daymark is a daily check-in. It is not an emergency service. It does not call 911, the police, or an ambulance.

What Daymark stores

Your first name.

Your time zone and the daily deadline you choose.

The times you tap I'm okay.

A push token for this phone, if the phone can register one, so reminders and alerts can be delivered.

The people you invite, and the people who invite you.

If you buy Daymark Plus, the product id and the store transaction id (and, on Google Play, the purchase token) so the server can confirm the purchase. Daymark never sees your card number. A web purchase is handled by Stripe. Daymark stores the Stripe checkout id, not your card.

A phone number, only if you type one. Watchers can add one when they accept an invite, and they agree to get check-in texts from that person. It also lets the server call or text you if the operator has turned phone alerts on.

A location, only if you turn location sharing on. Daymark stores the last latitude, longitude, accuracy, and time. It does not track you all day and it does not keep a trail of places.

What Daymark does not collect

No email address, photo, or health record. Daymark reads the address book only when you tap Choose from contacts. It stores only the names and numbers you add, on the phone, and it does not upload the address book. Location sharing with people who use the app stays off until you turn it on.

Who can see a check-in

People you add can see whether you checked in today, and they get a push notification if you miss the deadline, when their phones can receive it. If location sharing is on, that alert includes the last place your phone sent. Daymark does not send that alert to anyone else.

The Android beta

This private Android build sends an on-time I'm okay text from the phone to people who use the app and saved a phone number, unless that person turns it off in Settings. Emergency texts go to emergency contacts saved on the phone. Those people do not need the app. If a check-in is missed, this phone texts those same emergency contacts two minutes after the deadline. An on-time check-in cancels that text, and the phone sets it again after a reboot. If this phone is off, that text cannot leave it. It has no Firebase project and no Expo project id, so the server cannot send a remote push to it. While the app is open it asks this server for missed check-ins and Help alerts for people who also use the app.

Help

Help waits 5 seconds so you can cancel. Then this phone texts your emergency contacts, with your location when it can read one, and opens the dialer with 911 filled in. Daymark does not place the 911 call. People who also use the app can get a push if their phones can receive it.

Phone calls and texts

An on-time I'm okay text goes out from this phone to people who saved a number, unless Settings turns that off, or the operator has turned on Twilio. If Twilio is on, the server sends that I'm okay text instead, and the phone does not send a second copy. Emergency texts go out from this phone. A missed check-in is also texted from this phone to the emergency contacts saved on it. If Twilio is on, the phone skips numbers the server will text, so the same person is not texted twice. Calls and texts from the server stay off until the operator adds a Twilio account. If that is on, a missed check-in or Help can also call and text the phone numbers those app users saved.

How long it is kept

Check-ins, the last location, phone numbers, and contact links stay until you delete the account. Deleting the account in Settings erases the account, the check-ins, the push token, the last location, the phone number, the purchase records stored here, and the links to other people.

Sharing

Daymark does not sell personal information. Push messages go through the Expo push service when a phone has registered a token, so Apple or Google can deliver them. Store purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Web purchases are processed by Stripe. Phone calls and texts, if the operator turns them on, are sent by Twilio.
